At Torrent Water, we have been helping our commercial clients to achieve their goals, whether it is to provide a spot-free end product, to dramatically reduce energy inputs for a boiler, or to enhance milk production. We have also played a role in assisting clients to meet regulatory approval for both drinking water and pharmaceutical systems.
The HEP 9000 has been designed to meet the higher water needs of commercial applications, providing up to 9GPM (34Lpm) of exceptionally pure water on demand. Multiple units can work together to produce much higher capacity and/or to add full redundancy in your critical applications.
With additional water storage, this unit can meet much higher demands in applications where usage is periodic rather than constant – this can be done while maintaining fully sanitary pressurized water, unlike the competition.
The HEP 9000 has been designed as an extremely compact unit – with a footprint of only 24” x 24”, you won’t need to sacrifice valuable floor space in your facility.

High energy usage and corrosion of the heat-distribution pipes of site boiler
A study of the water in the boiler system showed that the high chlorides were the likely culprit of the corrosion.
The high energy costs were a consequence of the frequent blowdowns required due to high TDS in the ground water feeding the boiler. Softening the hard ground water only exacerbated the issue as this process increases the TDS of the water and the high sodium can increase corrosion.
The softener was removed and a HEP 2000 water purification system was implemented in order to reduce the TDS of the water
feeding the boiler unit. This resulted in a reduction of chlorides by 98% (135mg/L source, 3mg/L after HEP) and a 95% TDS reduction of (640ppm source, 32ppm after HEP).
Once the HEP system was installed, the boiler chemical company was called in to reassess the needs of the boiler. The chemical dosing was adjusted to suit the new feed water and the blowdown was reduced to the minimum frequency for the design of the boiler unit.
The fuel fills were tracked and a year over year comparison can be seen below where it can be seen that the application of the
HEP system resulted in a fuel cost reduction of more than $4,000 over two quarters based on $0.93/litre.

At Majestic Agriculture, the aesthetic of our flowers is absolutely key to customer acceptance and to attaining the highest value for the product. Water spotting due to high Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in the water used on the flowers can appear as mold on the leaves, causing rejection of product shipments. Knowing this, the leadership at Majestic has been harvesting rainwater at their facility and collecting it in large cisterns for watering purposes. This supply, however, is intermittent and cannot keep up with demand, particularly during the summer months.
At times when there was no choice but to use the groundwater, it was required to wipe down each leaf when product was ready for shipment. This translated into hundreds of hours of labour, adding significant overhead to the operation and cutting into the bottom line.
The groundwater at the facility has a TDS of over 500ppm with a total hardness of 367ppm – softening the water with a conventional salt-based water softener would actually increase the TDS, while the additional sodium is not recommended for plants. Only TDS reduction would resolve the issue.
Torrent Water Systems engaged with Majestic in August of 2018 and proceeded to characterize their water demand needs. Torrent Water Systems installed two HEP 2000 units, which were set to provide approximately 20,000Lpd of spot-free water into the existing cistern. With the system in place, Majestic has enjoyed significant cost savings and worry-free operation ever since!
